Amy Smart is a former American actress and model. Growing up and being raised in California USA she started her modelling professional career in Italy. The beginning of her acting career came in the year 1996, when she appeared in the TV film Her Costly Affair. It took some time to get her into Starship Troopers in a smaller part. Amy struggled to make the leap from modeling into acting, as models are not usually considered good actors. They are usually given smaller roles that aren't important. Amy persevered, and ultimately she was offered bigger roles in the films Varsity Blues and The 70s. The romantic comedy Just Friends, which also included Ryan Reynolds, saw her take on more prominent role. The film was a major box office success and Amy was finally able to get the recognition that she was seeking for more than 10 years. There were several major films in the Crank trilogy opposite Jason Statham. And she had a part in a series of recurring roles in the Shameless series.
