Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is an actor from Denmark. Danish actor from Denmark. He has played Copenhagen mayoral election candidate Troels Hartmann in The Killing, a drama series,[11 Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third series of Sherlock, the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. In 2011, he was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour At the age of 27 He attended the National Theatre School of Denmark from where he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role in The Killing, [1] he also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama series which was highly acclaimed. He also played a pivotal role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock in which he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the President of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. The show aired in the UK in 2019, as Ride Upon the Storm.
